Autex Acoustics, supporter of The Learning Space category in the 2023 INDE.Awards

  •   16 February 2023

It’s obvious to say that best practice should be applied to every aspect of architecture and design. It’s something that all practitioners strive to achieve and at the heart of all endeavours is the wellbeing of the environment. We all make choices that impact the world, whether large or small, so the actions of Autex Acoustics as a global company is all the more noteworthy, as this business made a stand and last year became totally carbon neutral. Actions speak louder than words and Autex Acoustics has made a real commitment to making a difference.

Along with supporting The Learning Space at the 2023 INDE.Awards, Autex Acoustics is leading the way forward on other fronts as well. Of course, being carbon neutral is a giant step for any company but so too is designing and producing products that are innovative and health enhancing. For example, in the projects of The Learning Space category, different typologies of architecture and design are showcased and set the agenda for future design. The projects are forward-thinking, sensitive to the environment and promote health for both teachers and students. And so, it is only fitting that Autex Acoustics and the ideas of learning are bound together, as producing products that help facilitate education are one of the core pillars of its business.

Autex Acoustics’ solutions provide acoustic comfort, aid indoor air quality and ensure lighting and visual satisfaction that improves the ability to learn and to teach. In today’s educational environment, there is a single overriding requirement: communication between teachers and students where content is to be heard above background noise, and acoustic treatments are key to this situation.

And then there is air quality where products that use low-emitting materials help create healthier environments. Visual comfort is also important, with colour print options and bespoke designs introduced through safe, water-based UV-cured inks. Linking back to biophilic design, there is a range of Acoustic Timber™ and surface finish products that contribute a natural aesthetic but also have acoustic benefits. In fact, Autex Acoustics has thought of everything and designed products accordingly.

These days best practice in education is so much more than the act of learning. An environment that aids and supports teachers and students in multiple ways is imperative to creating the perfect climate for connection, communication and concentration. Great design offers the opportunity to stimulate minds and accommodate a variety of styles of teaching, and here, Autex Acoustics helps provide context and solutions.

While Autex Acoustics strives to continually design innovative projects, it’s good to know where the business has come from and how it has evolved.  Founded in Auckland, New Zealand in 1967 as a supplier of underfelt for the flooring industry, Autex Acoustics has grown over the ensuing decades by providing quality products that exceed expectations.

As a supplier, Autex Acoustics is doing everything right. After all,  surviving and thriving through the ups and downs of more than 50 years in business says it all. It’s about adapting to change and anticipating customer needs and requirements, and understanding that the next generation of students can truly benefit from educational environments that support them in their quest for knowledge. This is where Autex Acoustics shines, creating products that are safe and health enhancing and aid teaching where and when there is the opportunity.

As Autex Acoustics balances all emissions from its global operations to zero in Australia, New Zealand, the US and the UK and innovates with products that are conducive to wellbeing, it’s gratifying to see that improving the environment of education is a driving factor for the company. The Learning Space at the 2023 INDE.Awards celebrates excellent architecture and design in the sphere of education, and so too does Autex Acoustics in providing products that are integral to the health and wellbeing of those who teach and learn.

The 2023 INDE.Awards is now open and all educational projects can be submitted for consideration to The Learning Space here. Education is key to the success of our communities and indeed every country within the Indo-Pacific and now is the time to place your projects in the spotlight on the regional and global stages and enter the INDEs for some well-deserved recognition.
