Material Lab, also known as Requiem of Ruins, is an extension of our studio built almost entirely from salvaged materials. Nearly 90 per cent of the space is composed of leftovers from past projects, rejected samples, prototypes and surplus that have been reimagined into functional architectural elements. Rather than treating waste as an afterthought, the project positions it as the primary design driver.

The lab was born from a two-year process of collecting and cataloguing discarded materials stored within the studio’s apartment space. The inventory became the blueprint, guiding form, detail and spatial composition. Every component – tiles, timber offcuts, metal fragments, acrylic scraps, and industrial leftovers – was repurposed, transforming fragments into furniture, installations and structural interventions.

Conceived as both a workspace and a living gallery, the Material Lab blurs the boundary between design studio and experimental archive. The project challenges conventional perceptions of waste in construction, demonstrating that discarded materials can become catalysts for creativity, innovation and conscious design practice.
