Qantas Adelaide Lounge Precinct

Architectus
Australia

Qantas’ Adelaide lounge precinct is reimagined as a cohesive sequence of interiors balancing brand consistency, regional specificity and operational performance. The existing Qantas Club and Chairman’s Lounge have been renovated, a Domestic Business Lounge – a first for South Australia – introduced, and a shared entry created to improve capacity, accessibility and technology across tiers, all delivered in stages to allow continued occupation.

The undulating curved timber entry, referencing the Flinders Ranges and paired with a perforated, acoustic ‘starry sky’ ceiling, establishes a unifying, site-specific arrival, with planting evoking the Adelaide Botanic Gardens. The 350-seat Qantas Club draws inspiration from the South Australian coastline, while the 190-seat Business Lounge references Kangaroo Island’s Remarkable Rocks, Flinders Chase National Park, SA Shiraz and the Adelaide Central Markets. Materiality, colour and form translate these landscapes into soft furnishings, brickwork, joinery and lighting.

Grounded in wellbeing principles, the precinct is welcoming, inclusive, efficient and easy to maintain. Strategic reuse, durable finishes and ubiquitous, unobtrusive and intuitive technology future‑proof the lounges, optimising occupancy and enhancing the customer experience though interiors that feel quintessentially Qantas and uniquely South Australian.
