The Simple Cuisine Gallery and Restaurant, located in Anhui, is the first kitchen and restaurant space for the renowned Italian brand Veneta Cucine, designed by architects Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee of HAS Design and Research. Veneta Cucine, established in 1967, is known for its craftsmanship and sustainable practices in kitchen and restaurant design. Situated in a newly developed urban area surrounded by high-rise buildings and commercial spaces, the gallery’s design connects to nature and the environment in an innovative way.
Hung And Songkittipakdee (HAS) drew inspiration from a small forest and hidden waterfall near the site. Their design philosophy emphasises healing and environmental revitalization, offering a place for spiritual transformation and relaxation amidst the urban chaos. The building’s dynamic, waterfall-inspired facades create a fluid, organic space that contrasts with its concrete surroundings, enhancing visitors’ sense of belonging.
The design features six multifunctional kitchen and restaurant spaces designed to engage multiple senses—sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. The Light Core central space serves as a versatile venue for events, reflecting the restaurant’s cultural significance beyond a commercial space. The design aims to provide a unique, immersive experience, blending artistry with the natural environment to foster a deeper connection with visitors.
