ZARA Nanjing redefines the flagship store as an urban and cultural infrastructure rather than a conventional retail environment. Located in the heart of Nanjing’s most active commercial district, the project transforms a global fashion brand into a spatial experience that engages directly with its surroundings.
The architecture extends beyond its footprint through a new façade, a generous cantilevered canopy, and an open entrance plaza, dissolving the boundary between store and street. Inside, the space unfolds as a layered journey, combining retail, social interaction, and cultural activation.
A central red brick staircase anchors the project, functioning simultaneously as circulation, seating, and display, while referencing Nanjing’s material identity. Behind the scenes, a high-performance logistics system is made visible, turning operational efficiency into part of the spatial narrative.
Blending physical and digital experiences, curated retail formats, and public engagement, the project positions ZARA not just as a retailer, but as an active contributor to the broader cultural and public life of Nanjing.
