Inspired by Melbourne’s architectural DNA, Lune Lonsdale asserts a civic presence for the celebrated croissanterie, reflecting its evolution, growth and cult following, honed over the last decade. Rugged materials and refined details balance craft and atmosphere, while meticulous planning fosters public generosity and ease, representing the brand’s future.

Lune’s signature pastry kitchen ‘cube’—almost double the size of its Fitzroy HQ—nestles against the Spencer Street façade, activating the street as patrons queue. Frameless glazing and iconic ‘hyperdrive’ lighting celebrate the artistry of Lune’s croissant-making, while a central sales counter separates dine-in and takeaway streams for clarity and efficiency.

Small-format bluestone pavers, strong material datums, and a band of LED lighting temper the vast volume to a human scale. Amplifying Lune’s industrial-meets-art-gallery aesthetic, a suite of bespoke furniture pieces balances ruggedness and precision, reinterpreting the brand’s familiar palette of concrete, smoked mirror and stainless steel with a contemporary hand. A ribbon of banquette seating lines the perimeter, inviting visitors to take in the bustling atmosphere, while kitchen bar seating—a first for Lune—positions its production line as a shared performance.
