Conceived as a leafy terrace home, Eva Surry Hills reimagines retail through a residential lens, extending the Melbourne furniture brand’s philosophy of living well and living simply. A series of domestic vignettes transform a charming 1880s corner building, honouring everyday rituals and inviting customers to linger.
A restrained palette of warm oak and nuanced render amplifies the building’s generous proportions, arched windows and lofty ceiling heights, while contemporary insertions sit lightly within the existing fabric. Custom oak joinery organises the plan into a series of loosely defined rooms, doubling as ever-changing displays of Eva’s curated accessories. A natural stone plinth nestles between existing structural elements, creating a moment of visual interest along the switchback stair, now refined with a metal balustrade and oak handrail.
Upstairs, bespoke leather wall panels provide tonal contrast within a bedroom setting, while restored French doors open onto a wrap-around balcony. Linen curtains gently temper daylight, overlaying the interior with a calm, ephemeral quality. Throughout, planting, books, ceramics, and décor reinforce an approachable, residential atmosphere, encouraging considered engagement with the brand’s collection.
