Calibre

SJB
Australia

Minimal, masculine and monochromatic tones provide the perfect backdrop for the Australian fashion brand Calibre to shine. SJB created a storefront for their Bondi store that reflects their refined and tailored product offering with a fit out that is an exercise in restraint and simplicity.

The store is defined by a series of paired back zones combining geometric elements and moments of heightened textures. Every junction, shadow line, texture and material have been meticulously considered to create a sophisticated ambience while balancing the practical volume of foot traffic in a single day of trade. Durable and tactile materials connect across the store offering a single vision and consistency to the eye. The colour palette and materiality of the fixtures and fittings were paired back and contrast the soft furnishings of rugs and curtains in a brilliant deep red providing differentiation and a sense of quality.

The exterior shopfront branding for Calibre also portrays mannerism attuned to a gallery space, where the Calibre graphic was treated as a destination gallery with large sheets of glass designed to be present, not obvious, aiding the stock to be highlighted for passers-by.

Key to the project was responding to a changing fashion landscape and consumer that desires uncomplicated luxury and a bespoke retail experience. The Bondi store acts a blueprint for all future retail investment for Calibre as a place where users feel elevated in a contemporary setting but relaxed to stop an peruse for a while.
