In Addition
Australia

Establishing our own studio was driven by a desire to return to the fundamentals of practice: close, hands-on involvement with projects and genuine connection with the people behind them. After years working within larger studio structures, we felt a strong pull toward a more immediate and personal way of practising – one where ideas, making and conversation happen in close proximity, and where we remain intimately connected to every project, process, and contributor.

Guided by deep listening and a highly personal approach, we aim to build genuine relationships with our clients and collaborators. This allows us to translate their unique stories, brands and identities into spatial experiences that feel authentic and resonant. Often, the design process invites people to step beyond their comfort zone. Part of our role is to guide that journey with care and clarity, building trust in both the process and the potential of design.

The name ‘In Addition’ reflects this outlook. We see design as a collective act, shaped by the shared input of our team, our clients, makers and the broader community. Each project becomes an opportunity to explore new modes of creative expression and collaboration, drawing on the diverse experiences of all involved. Through this process, we aim to deliver spaces that are not only functional but emotive and highly resolved: places that connect meaningfully with the people who inhabit them.

Practising across hospitality, retail and residential sectors has allowed us to remain adaptable and carve out opportunities in various niches. Much of our work has involved partnering with emerging brands – including July, Paire and Hommey – at a stage where design can shape identity and translate their digital ethos into physical form. It has been rewarding to see how thoughtful environments can contribute to a broader trajectory of growth, in some cases helping to attract investment and support international expansion.

Looking ahead, we are excited to see a number of residential projects reach fruition. These projects represent an opportunity to apply the same values of collaboration, care and storytelling at a more intimate scale, continuing our ambition to create thoughtful, enduring spaces that enrich everyday life for individuals and communities.
