The Project
Designed as a coastal escape, this single-level home on the NSW Central Coast is a study in warmth, texture and restraint. A modest colourbond exterior gives way to a richly layered interior, where materiality becomes the defining architectural language.
A restrained palette of mainly timber, stone and rendered surfaces brings depth and texture to the spaces, with each material carefully considered for both durability and feel. A subtle curved plinth eases the transitions between the open plan living/dining to outside, as well as providing a foundation for feature shelving and a fireplace aand acting as a TV console.
Natural light plays a key role, drawing out tonal variation and highlighting the honesty of the materials. The kitchen and living areas form the heart of the home, where expressive stone surfaces are balanced by warm joinery and simple detailing.
Throughout, the design balances coastal ease with a strong material focus, resulting in a home that feels grounded, functional and enduring.
