David Chatfield
David Chatfield is an architecture and interiors photographer from Brisbane, Australia.

The Project
Situated on an east sloping site on the Sunshine Coast hinterland, this small, one-bed project is a successful exercise in simplicity and connectedness. Stepped over several tier’s to flow with the gradient, the floor plan maximises the small footprint and dissolves the boundaries of each room and yet remains welcoming and comfortable as the intimacy at the high side of the project gives way to expansive vertical space as one moves through.

The restrained material palette of zinc and timber, which references the vernacular of regional banana packing sheds, affords the project a modest presence on the town’s main street.
