I’m an architect who has gradually segued into a career in photography over the last 15 years. I think to tell the whole story of a building in photos you need to capture everything from intimate details and evidence of habitation through to architectural hero shots, all in beautiful light.
The Project
The Estate 1882 involved the restoration and extension of an 1880’s Georgian era mansion in far Southern New South Wales. I wanted to capture how the house sits in the isolation and beauty of the natural landscape while simultaneously conveying both the period restoration and contemporary architectural insertions evident in the interior. My approach was to give the project a number of days to shoot and work closely with the architect, Luke Moloney and interior stylist Claire Delmar, to bring each individual image its own strong character while sitting comfortably within the whole set of images.
