Jade Cantwell
The Inverloch Esplanade Hotel
Jade Cantwell
Jade grew up in Western Sydney, spent a few years travelling and then landed in Naarm/Melbourne (read: a bit cultured but also a bit bogan). She studied Media Arts and Film Production at the University of Technology Sydney, magical realism in literature at Universidad Veracruzana, Mexico and Arabic in Damascus just before the Arab Spring started. A failed painter, she loves colour and form, light and shadow and playing with composition.
The Project
Studio Heck have undertaken a complete overhaul of both the sports bar and dining hall of the Inverloch Esplanade Hotel. Situated in the centre of town, its previously renovated interiors were plain, but Studio Heck have brought back the warmth and original character of this 1930’s pub. Evoking nostalgia and layering materials like American Cherry, cork, stained glass, leather banquettes and gold lettering, their eye for balance and detail lets each material play its part without overwhelm.
