The Project
Murrin Bridge is a former mission town, one of 61 autonomous Aboriginal communities in New South Wales and home to a vibrant preschool that serves the local community and families from surrounding towns and farms. A project to expand the preschool quickly morphed into a community-led design collaboration between the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and local residents to deliver a new community hub that will contribute to the town’s social and economic growth.

The project emerged as part of a broader body of work led by UTS Architecture academic Dr Campbell Drake and the local Murrin Bridge Aboriginal Land Council over the last nine years. This long standing relationship positioned UTS as a trusted partner to the Murrin Bridge community, which was essential to facilitating the preschool community hub work.
