Greg Natale has a long-standing relationship with Serafini, and the Nastro marks their third collaboration that was also exhibited at Salone Del Mobile 2026.
Serafini is known for the skilled ability to craft stone in modernist and experimental forms and has always been open to testing the boundaries. The Nastro challenges the notion of cutting stone into organic forms, rather than the traditional practice of using geometric forms.
By studying patterns and designs that naturally occur in the environment and reinterpreting these codes in a futuristic form without the aid of modern technology, such as AI, the design was conceived and developed . The project is also inspired by the work of the artist Giacomo Balla, a Futurist whose artworks depict light, movement, and speed.
Onyx was chosen for its transparency, as the Nastro performs well when light is cast upon it. Just like a sculpture on exhibition in a gallery under light, it can cast a play of shadows through its voids, making it a component that enhances its form.
