Como Terraces

Positioned in the Como Hill precinct of South Yarra adjacent the Birruwang, and developed by Cbus Property and Sterling Global, Como Terraces’ objective is to achieve a strong sense of place. The overall architectural outcome of Como Terraces is a collection of three-storey built forms that traverse the topography with slight shifts and rotations to maximise expansive views, space and natural light to all apartments. The project is read as a series of buildings in the landscape as opposed to one complex.

Alike to nearby early 20th century apartments, Como Terraces pedestrianises itself with a central stairway which creates street intrigue and connection to the river. The resultant interstitial space establishes laneways and communal landscape courtyards, connected via paths that wind up the hill, linking the individual buildings and internal communal spaces. The sense of place and calm is reinforced by a warm and consistent material palette, varying in texture from rammed earth, sandblasted and bush-hammered concrete, to soft-applied render.

Free of embellishment and constructed of durable materials, the interior design is expansive in its layout, and cohesive with its relationship to architecture and landscape, resulting in a refined living experience with a deep connection to its natural surroundings.
