The Englefield

The Englefield is a collection of seven residences over four levels that blend timeless design with modern convenience. Housing six homes across levels ground to two and a penthouse on the third floor, the development has a sophisticated and functional feel that integrates seamlessly with its South Yarra setting in Melbourne.

Inspired by Englefield House – a magnificent nineteenth-century home that once presided over the area – The Englefield’s sculptural, monolithic form adds a sense of grandeur to its setting, contributing a similar sense of splendour in the present day. Each generously proportioned residence features natural light on three sides, elevated ceilings and large interior spaces with dedicated spaces for entry, display, study, cooking, grooming, dressing, sleeping and entertaining. Private terraces and lushly planted bay windows ensure a connection with the leafy surrounds and landscaping. A generous lobby, porte-cochere and secure basement parking provide residents with a safe and inviting home to return to at the end of each day.

Woods Bagot’s research of its client’s target demographic revealed that potential buyers were downsizers looking for the space and convenience they had grown accustomed to at their larger houses. The design team focused on creating apartments that paid respect to the emotional connection owners have with their family homes, as well as ensuring a physical generosity of space. A finely detailed fireplace takes pride of place in each abode’s living room – conjuring its traditional status as the nucleus of family gatherings. Similarly, dedicated areas for entry, entertaining, study and grooming communicate the feel of delineated space for family activities common in larger homes. Kitchens are spacious and functional, and ample storage is purposefully designed and integrated in every room.
