Onda is a renovated residence in Attadale, Western Australia, designed to transform a dilapidated bungalow into a refined, contemporary family home. The project reconfigures the original footprint, introducing fluid, organic forms that enhance movement and spatial cohesion while maximising space, light, and views.
Navigating strict planning constraints, the design works within the existing multi-level structure, which steps from a single story at the front to three stories at the rear. This natural tiering informed a layered architectural approach, with curves strategically implemented to optimise circulation, preserve privacy, and create a seamless connection between spaces.
A carefully curated material palette of polished plaster, timber, limestone, and natural stone fosters warmth and refinement, while a sculptural ceiling—developed in response to structural limitations—adds depth and character. Onda demonstrates how thoughtful design can elevate a renovation beyond adaptation, resulting in a timeless and immersive living environment.
