K House is located in regional New South Wales, situated on a clifftop overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Rendered white, with curated materiality of brick, concrete, stone and glass, the two-storey house sits comfortably into its landscape from the street but rises from the site at the back.

With a crystal clear intention of perfectly proportioned and unpretentious form, K House is positioned to take advantage of the magnificent views but also provides ultimate comfort and sanctuary. As a home for two people, the floor plan is spacious yet connected and the design deliberately solicits the expansion of sensory information, reducing all that is unnecessary to focus on the intrinsic.

Imperfections expressed through an authentic palette of selected finishes, materials and brickwork evoke emotional expressions and serve to ground us. The landing at the stair from the upper to the lower level features a large picture window that provides natural light but also an ever-changing vista of water and sky. Downstairs are the public areas, a second bedroom and bathroom.

A highly functional kitchen is positioned aside the staircase and, in the living room, a bench seat has been inserted beside vast windows that front the ocean. The dining room, placed in the centre of the floor, sits within a magnificent double-height void and there is a generosity of space, natural light and room to move and breathe. Sunlight and shadows accentuate the exterior walls and recesses and purposely delineate the form of K House. Picture windows frame the views on both levels of this home as the interior connects to the water, sky and land and becomes a sanctuary for those who reside within.
