Sunset House

Sunset House is a deeply personal transformation of a three-storey, late-1990s project home on Sydney’s Lower North Shore, reimagined for a family of five.

The design response layers texture, colour and craft across every level, from a striking double-height entry clad in milky Krause brick, to a reworked upper floor that separates living and principal bedroom zones, each capturing northward vistas of bush, water and cityscape. Rich material pairings, walnut timber veneer, figured green marble, textured render, replace generic finishes throughout, while bespoke joinery and a significant art collection spanning works by Sylvia Ken, Guy Maestri, Ben Quilty, Karen Black and Justine Varga embue the interior with a lived-in, gallery-like quality.

Distinct in atmosphere yet coherent as a whole, Sunset House balances the needs of a growing family with an unwavering commitment to considered design, shaping spaces that are textural, playful, purposeful, and enduringly beautiful.
