Joy Haus

Joy Haus is a spatially reimagined family home where architecture, interior design and daily life are conceived as one continuous system. Retaining the original roofline, the dwelling was stripped internally and extended seven metres into the garden, allowing the plan to be inverted and reorganised around light, movement and connection to the landscape.

The reconfiguration relocates the kitchen and living spaces to the rear of the home, opening directly to the garden and strengthening indoor–outdoor continuity. Private zones are positioned toward the front of the house, establishing a clearer spatial hierarchy and redistributing volume across the plan.
The interior builds atmosphere through a layered interplay of colour, texture and material. Shared spaces are wrapped in warm blossom-yellow tones that amplify morning light, while deeper hues create more intimate and restful environments throughout the home.

Material selections balance expressiveness with durability. Rosso Levanto, blue quartzite, stainless steel and cobbled stone introduce density and contrast, while walnut joinery and checked cork flooring soften the composition and support the rhythms of family life.

The result is a confident, characterful interior that celebrates warmth, personality and everyday inhabitation, demonstrating how expressive design can remain functional, enduring and inherently joyful.
