This stately Spanish Mission home is reimagined as a summery suburban oasis – a handwritten architectural love story between Moorish flair and Aussie outdoor leisure, providing communal and cozy retreats, indoors and out.
Honouring the ornate original façade of arches meeting in a barley twist column, the renovation is characterised by playful scallop detailing and elegant arched render, imparting joy and historical richness. The home retains its fortress-like perimeter while balancing open and enclosed spaces to foster communal living, with thoughtful zones dedicated to family retreats, including a BBQ area, pool, and multiple outdoor sitting spaces.
Delightfully tactile details and a romantic pastel palette make for an evocative interior. Inside, the cathedral-like kitchen and living area exude both grandeur and intimacy. A warm palette of terrazzo, timber, terracotta, and hand-cut travertine evokes a handcrafted, earthy feel, while the original “dirty pink” hue is cleverly woven into the design.
Environmental considerations, such as cross-ventilation and double glazing, enhance comfort and energy efficiency. Handmade details and a romantic pastel palette throughout the interior invite a sensory experience, offering both vibrant social spaces and tranquil solo escapes for the family within.
