Blue House

Blue House is a thoughtfully renovated family home that blends heritage with contemporary design. Originally a pub, the home had evolved over time, merging two neighbouring terraces into one interconnected space. The renovation focused on creating distinct, functional areas while introducing colourful cohesion throughout.

The design embraces the building’s eclectic history, celebrating unique architectural features such as odd connections, exposed steel, and industrial elements. By introducing two statement colours—marigold and eucalyptus—throughout the space, we unified the varied elements into a cohesive whole. These colours were strategically applied to highlight architectural volumes, define transitions, and bring visual harmony to the home.

The home now serves as a flexible and inviting space for the owner and their adult children, with a balance of private and communal areas. The large rumpus room offers space for gatherings, while intimate reading nooks provide quiet retreats. The renovation respects the home’s history while creating a vibrant, functional environment that meets the needs of modern family life.

Blue House is a testament to how thoughtful design can stitch together the past and present, creating a home that is both welcoming and reflective of its rich history.
