The renovation of ‘The Ridge’, an elegant colonnaded villa (built in 1923 as the home of Sydney architect H.E. Wardell) set at the centre of one of the finest landscaped gardens in the Southern Highlands.
The house had been altered over time; its floor plan was awkward, one elevation was beautiful but the other three were not.
Perplexingly, there was no clear front door.
Remarkably, given the beauty of the garden around it, there was no connection between the landscape and the interior.
The design approach sought to amend this in such a way that changes would feel original to the house.
