Bolo is a circular economy initiative by Charles Wilson and Andrew Simpson. The aim with Bolo is to eliminate takeaway food packaging across almost any scenario. From food halls and corporate catering, to eating at home and delivery services.
The lidded bowls are made from moulded rice husk. The husk, a waste material left over from farming, is combined with plant starch to make the durable bowls. The bowls can be reused indefinitely and are both dishwasher and microwave safe.
Bolos come in two sizes: A shallow bowl with sauce boat suitable for dishes such as sushi, rice paper rolls, dumplings etc, and a deep bowl which can be used for anything from pasta or rice through to a burger and chips. The bowls are stackable with interlocking lids and bases, and the elliptical form allows them to be carried with ease. The lids, which are common to both sizes are sealed with a silicon gasket.
