Terminal 2 Kempegowda International Airport Interiors

Enter Projects Asia designed and delivered the 12000-square-metre departures area at Bengaluru International Airport, redefining the aesthetics of airport interiors through an innovative, biophilic approach. The space, which integrates retail, hospitality, and relaxation areas, is crafted from nine kilometres of handwoven, biodegradable rattan—an unprecedented application of natural materials at this scale. Rejecting the conventional, corporate aesthetic of modern airports, the design prioritises organic forms, warmth, and sustainability. Each section was meticulously handwoven at EPA’s Bangkok factory using bespoke logistics software, ensuring efficient, economical, and sustainable shipping. This fusion of cutting-edge technology and artisanal craftsmanship sets a new benchmark for large-scale, eco-conscious design.
By recontextualising rattan—typically associated with boutique resorts—into a high-traffic, urban environment, the project challenges industry norms, proving that plant-based materials can redefine commercial spaces. The result is an immersive, tactile experience that enhances passenger well-being while demonstrating the potential of natural materials in global infrastructure. This project exemplifies Enter Projects Asia’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and craftsmanship, transforming one of the world’s busiest airports into a sanctuary of biophilic design.
