Located in Singapore’s Marina Centre district within the city’s central business district, Mutiny at Millenia Walk transforms a retail tenancy into high-performance micro-architecture with health and wellness at its core. The project, on the ground floor of Philip Johnson’s 1996 design, responds to Singapore’s high-intensity work culture by introducing a carefully designed space for health, recovery and well-being.
At its core is the X-Former resistance training room, designed for small group classes and lined with perforated acoustic panels that create a high-performance environment, ensuring energetic sessions remain contained while maintaining comfort for adjacent tenants. Environmental quality is central to the experience: fresh air drawn from the atrium maintains super-low CO₂ and VOC levels, while ceiling fans keep the studio comfortable at 27 degrees Celsius, calibrated to Singapore’s equatorial climate. Indoor environmental conditions are continuously monitored and visibly displayed for occupants.
Material reuse and spatial efficiency shape the project’s sustainability strategy. Existing metal framing was retained and recycled, while a skylight inherited from the previous tenant was reopened to bring daylight deep into the interior. Within 94 square meters, the compact design integrates training, changing facilities, retail foyer, art display, and storage – demonstrating how micro-architecture can deliver wellness, environmental performance and architectural refinement.
