RAW Architecture (Realrich Architecture Workshop)

Indonesia

Founded in 2011, RAW Architecture (Realrich Architecture Workshop) is a ground-breaking design studio comprising of architects, thinkers, and craftsmen. Realrich Architecture Workshop serves at the core of the ecosystem of sustainable design and practice in Indonesia.

The studio consists of collaboration and dialogue between three platforms that forms an ecosystem of creatives.

Firstly, RAW Architecture explores the method of sustainable design and relationships between context and materiality. The process includes exercises and methods from studio to craftsmen and workshop. With only a small team, the practice delivers unique, relevant, and climate-responsive buildings advanced from collaborative research and explorations that form a methodology.

Secondly, the craftsman’s laboratory explores the art of building construction as it is implemented by the artisan. This platform amplifies the quality of the work by its innovation and experimentation of the techniques and details of various traditional and modern building materials.

Lastly, the thinkers, in the form of Omah Library contribute to research, explore literacy developments and book publishing, and hosts hundreds of periodical public seminars for people inside and outside the studio. This platform showcases its purpose to nourish the ecosystem of architecture discourse publicly.

In each project the client comes first and is an equal partner. The culture in the studio allows everyone from designers and clients to explore the innovative and efficient practices at the core of sustainable design. With only a small multidisciplinary collaborative team, the practice delivers unique, relevant, and climate-responsive buildings advanced from collaborative research and explorations.
