Oku Space is a Melbourne-based furniture company established by a collective of designers and makers with an ethos to produce high-end sustainable furniture for the residential and commercial market. Already sharing a workshop, Oku Space founders Nick Rennie, Brett Julian, and Dustin Fritsche decided to combine their expertise to develop a range of furniture with a strong emphasis on design and quality and every piece of Oku Space furniture is considered and beautifully crafted.
The main aim of the practice is to create beautiful usable objects that are made locally by the team in Melbourne. The founders believe strongly in the quality of design and manufacture available in Australia, and are focused on producing high-end sustainable furniture for both the residential and commercial markets. The ambition is to find like-minded clients who believe in buying something to last a lifetime.
While only a very young company, OKU Space has entered the world with a strong collection of objects that have been received incredibly well. From years of working for some of Europe and Australia’s most recognised and respected brands, Nick Rennie and the team have turned their attention towards creating beautiful designs for the Australian market. It’s this intense knowledge of both mass manufacturing and bespoke artisan production that has led to the specialised nature and the ability to manufacture the carefully thought-out collection.
The most notable aspect of this practice is the mix of both extensive furniture manufacturing experience, and expertise in developing award-winning product designs from the founders. Each person is passionate about creating beautiful objects that share a responsibility with both the environment as well as the materials used.
