Korumburra Community Hub is a vibrant civic space uniting diverse community groups in South Gippsland. Integrated with the township, it provides an accessible, multi-purpose facility that fosters social connection, cultural exchange, and lifelong learning. Its sustainable design ensures resilience, enhancing community engagement for generations. Carefully designed to link with the heritage streetscape on the foothills of the Strzelecki Ranges, the hub responds to a complex brief, accommodating multiple users and concurrent functions on steep terrain. Two separate entries—one upper, one lower—allow easy access, clear separation of uses, and optimised views and amenities. Acoustic engineering ensures functionality for diverse activities while maintaining distinct identities for each user group.

Preserving existing mature trees was a key design principle, with the built form sculpted around them to frame views and enhance passive design. Thoughtful scale and material selection allow the building to sit comfortably within its surroundings. By supporting direct community engagement into the design, the Korumburra Community Hub fosters social connections and regional activation. The Hub has become a catalyst for lifelong learning and engagement, revitalising the heart of the regional township.
