1 Elizabeth is an innovative, high-density integrated transport development that has transformed a Sydney city block into a dynamic civic heart. Strategically positioned in Martin Place, the project integrates a new metro station with a vibrant public plaza and a 37-level, future-focused financial headquarters for Macquarie Group.The seamless integration between commercial, public and transport spaces unlocked the site’s potential by maximising open space, natural light and air while creating an engaging, art-filled civic destination. The open ground plaza provides a seamless transition between the metro station and the street, offering places to meet, relax, and experience extensive public art and cultural storytelling.
Above, Macquarie’s headquarters fosters collaboration and wellbeing through interconnected atria, landscaped terraces, and abundant natural light. Sustainable features are embedded throughout, with all-electric services in normal operations, embodied carbon reduction strategies, and a 6 Star Green Star Design rating. 1 Elizabeth sets a benchmark for transit-oriented, future-ready urban design, reflective of the aim of bringing people together and providing a place for everyone in the heart of Sydney’s CBD.
