As the supporter of The Object category, Haworth understands the necessity of supplying only the best products to architects and designers for use in their various projects. In partnering with the INDE.Awards, Haworth shows its commitment to the architecture and design community, not only in a regional setting but on the global stage as well.

Cory Cvetkovic, Managing Director, Australia & New Zealand, Haworth commented. “This year’s award winner for The Object truly exemplifies the most relevant qualities we are working through in product design and design in general. Using recycled plastic to create a beautiful, innovative and acoustic product not only sets the bar a notch higher for sustainability, but also addresses how we can properly acoustically treat environments to enable work, life and interiors and an ambient environment that is suitable and enjoyable.

Designing a product that makes a difference is what makers strive to do and The Embossed Acoustic Panel collection is the perfect example of sustainable design with practical use. The collection comprises of three patterns, Zen, Ion and Gem and there are a variety of colours available.

As three-dimensional acoustic interior wall panels the collection provides floor-to-ceiling acoustic solutions for commercial interiors. At 2.8 metres high the panels are a seamless solution for commercial interiors and the panels pattern-match for continuous wall and double-height installations. The panels are versatile and have also been utilised in operable walls, as workstation screens and in acoustic lighting design.

The sustainability credentials are also impeccable, made from 60 per cent recycled PET and each panel diverts 235 x 600 millilitre single-use plastic bottles from global landfill and waterways. The panels have also been manufactured using repurposed obsolete machinery and achieve the innovative embossed surface design that was developed over three years – all in a carbon neutral production facility.
Colour is added to the molten bottle flakes before extrusion and this process also reduces water consumption and effluent production. Continuing the sustainability initiatives of the collection, the panels have been certified by Global GreenTag ensuring the process for manufacture comply to environmental, social and Building Code compliance. A GreenRate Level A has been awarded which equates to a 100 per cent ‘Sustainability Factor’ in the Green Star AU, NZ & SA rating tools’ sustainable product credits.
It is in recognition of the support that Haworth gives as partner to the INDE.Awards and supporter of The Object category that design such as The Embossed Acoustic Panel collection can achieve recognition. Congratulations to Woven Image and to Haworth!
